Studio Sessions Vol. 2 with-MARIA ISA @MariaIsa (@ Nomad World Pub)
I caught up with, the beautiful, multi-talented MC, Singer, Song writer, and Actress Maria Isa last night at Nomad. We touch on a handful of topics- The landscape of the music scene local and national, Career highs and lows, and what to expect from her in the future. When we touched on the topic of the Minnesota Music Scene Maria stated “it’s cliquish similar to a high school lunchroom”, You have all of these different worlds that exist under this one umbrella that is Minnesota. And in these different worlds their is a false since of superiority, an illusion of sorts that is fueled by fear. A fear of not wanting to face the reality, that the world we live in is bigger than your inner circle of family and friends- that will support you no matter what you produce or create good or bad. Maria has consistently dared to travel outside of her comfort zone as an artist, from Jazz to Folk music. Maria stated that she is willing to collab with anyone that is serious and passionate about there craft, Maria feels this will benefit her in the long run making her more well-rounded as an artist. Maria has plenty of highlights on her resume, and has a fire inside that is still burning to create and bring her visions and ideas to life. Maria recently spent time some in Los Angels working as an actress in a film yet to be released, stating ” it was a great experience not only for me, but my entire movement”. Just a Thought:
If your not happy with your results, try something different. Go to shows, surf the net see what else the city,state, world has to offer. Give your music a thorough examination. Be open to feed back good and bad, take it for what it’s worth. Know up front, that everyone isn’t going to be a fan of what you create. Think outside the box, find your voice, and know that the truth always sounds better.
